4) Uploading your first DICOM series

Congratulations on your 3DICOM subscription. Whether you have been following our Getting Started articles, or signed up by yourself, it is great to have you onboard.

It’s exciting to explore all the features 3DICOM offers, and you might be tempted to dive into customizing your account or playing with the various tools available.

However, the best way to get started is by uploading a DICOM series to view. This allows you to familiarize yourself with the basics of the platform, like navigating through your medical images and using the core tools for 2D and 3D viewing.

Uploading a DICOM Series

From the Dashboard, you can upload your first DICOM series by going to the File or Import DICOM section. Selecting one series to start with keeps things simple and helps you focus on learning how to view your images without overwhelming the system.

Data Retention: Secure and Flexible Storage Options

By default, 3DICOM only retains your uploaded DICOM series for 7 days. This time limit is in place for data security and storage restrictions, ensuring that your files aren’t kept indefinitely without your consent. If you need to access your files for longer, you can enable cloud storage, which provides secure access to your DICOM series at anytime.
This feature is perfect for users who need long-term access to their medical images or for securely sharing files with healthcare providers.
