Your Central Hub for Managing Medical Imaging Data

The Scans/Records section in 3DICOM serves as your central hub for managing all medical imaging files and related reports uploaded to your account or shared with you directly or via a tenant to which you have been granted access. All files are organized according to the DICOM standard, making it easy to navigate through Patient, Study, and Series levels. For those who may be unfamiliar with the DICOM standard, an explanation is provided below.

Accessing and Managing Your Files

In Scans/Records, you can:

Open and view DICOM files in the 3DICOM Viewer as long as they’re within the 7-day storage window or have long-term cloud storage enabled.

Upgrade or downgrade cloud storage to keep your files accessible for up to one year.

Share files with third parties, such as healthcare providers, directly from the platform.

Anonymize sensitive data to protect privacy when sharing.

Download copies of files locally to your device, including Scans, Reports, and 3D.stl files generated through AI segmentation (EDU & MD subscriptions only).

Monitor every action taken on a scan by viewing Audit History, ensuring full accountability and traceability.

Understanding the Hierarchical File Structure

Following the DICOM standard, the Scans/Records section organizes your files in the following hierarchical order:

📁 Patient — The main folder containing all studies for one patient.

📁 Study — A specific imaging session (e.g. CT Chest – 2025-09-15).

📁 Series — A set of related images and files within a study.
