Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in 3DICOM

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) strengthens the security of your 3DICOM account by requiring a second form of verification during login. This guide outlines how to set up MFA using either SMS or an authenticator app to protect the sensitive medical data and personal information on your account, even if your password is ever stolen or compromised.

MFA Options in 3DICOM

There are three account-level MFA options available to choose from in 3DICOM, and two secondary MFA options available specifically for 3DICOM Mobile that provide an additional layer of security for mobile devices.

3DICOM Mobile

Secondary Authentication (Optional)

Secondary authentication on 3DICOM Mobile offers an additional layer of security that prompts you to log in using biometrics (fingerprint, face ID) or a 4-digit PIN if the app has been minimized for more than 2 minutes.

This helps protect your scans and personal data by ensuring that only you can re-access the app, even if someone else is using your unlocked device.

Accessing MFA Settings

MFA can be accessed under the Authentication tab in your account settings.

Follow the steps below to learn how to access your MFA settings in 3DICOM.

Steps to get there:

1. Log in to your 3DICOM account. You will be automatically directed to the dashboard.

2. Click the settings icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

3. Click the Authentication tab to view the available MFA options.

How to set up MFA

You can set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in 3DICOM using either SMS or an Authenticator App. These options are available under the Authentication tab in your account settings.

Follow the steps below to learn how to set up MFA using each method.

Phone (SMS)

Steps to get there:

1. In the Authentication tab, select Phone (SMS) and click ‘Save’.

2. Enter your mobile phone number and click ‘Next’.

3. A 6-digit verification code will be sent to your mobile via SMS. Enter the code into the field provided and click ‘Verify’.lick ‘Next’.

Once verified, you’ll receive confirmation that SMS-based MFA is active.

4. Click ‘Finish’ to complete the setup.

You can update or disable MFA at any time by returning to the Authentication tab within your account settings.

Authenticator App

Steps to get there:

1. In the Authentication tab, select Authenticator App and click ‘Save’.

2. On your smartphone, install an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator via the relevant app store (Google Play or App Store), then click ‘Next’.

3. Open the app on your smartphone and either: Scan the QR code displayed in 3DICOM or manually enter the setup key.

4. The app will generate a 6-digit verification code. Enter the code into the provided field and click ‘Verify’.

Once verified, MFA will be enabled using your authenticator app.

5. Click ‘Finish’ to complete the process.

You can update or disable MFA at any time by returning to the Authentication tab within your profile settings.
