Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in 3DICOM
All about MFA in 3DICOM
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) strengthens the security of your 3DICOM account by requiring a second form of verification during login. This guide outlines how to set up MFA using either SMS or an authenticator app to protect the sensitive medical data and personal information on your account, even if your password is ever stolen or compromised.
MFA Options in 3DICOM
There are three account-level MFA options available to choose from in 3DICOM, and two secondary MFA options available specifically for 3DICOM Mobile that provide an additional layer of security for mobile devices.
Learn more about all of the MFA options below.
Phone (SMS) Authentication
Receive a one-time 6-digit code via SMS each time you log in. Enter the code to verify your identity and access your account.
Authenticator App
Use a third-party app like Google Authenticator, Authy or Microsoft Authenticator to generate time-based codes for secure login.
You may need to install the app on your mobile device if you haven’t already.
None (Disables MFA)
No multi-factor authentication is enabled, meaning only your email and password are required.
This is not recommended, as it increases the risk of unauthorized access if your login details are compromised.

Secondary Authentication (Optional)
Secondary authentication on 3DICOM Mobile offers an additional layer of security that prompts you to log in using biometrics (fingerprint, face ID) or a 4-digit PIN if the app has been minimized for more than 2 minutes.
This helps protect your scans and personal data by ensuring that only you can re-access the app, even if someone else is using your unlocked device.
Accessing MFA Settings
MFA can be accessed under the Authentication tab in your account settings.
